“When you need dancers moving in a different way and other techniques don’t allow that. They are all wonderful techniques, I’m not dumping on anything that has gone before me. It gave me ME! You know, Graham, Ailey. It’s all there preceding me and I love ballet but that’s not what I do. That’s just one of the ingredients in my stew.”
Garth Fagan is the founder and artistic director of the award-winning and internationally acclaimed Garth Fagan Dance, now celebrating its 40th Anniversary season. Fagan’s choreography incorporates elements of modern dance, ballet, Afro-Caribbean dance, and social dance. Many of his works are autobiographical or include themes of personal relevance.
